The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Atlanta provides financial, material, educational and spiritual support to those in need regardless of background or faith and collaborates with other organizations to empower people to achieve self-sufficiency. We are part of an international organization and have operated in North Georgia since 1903.
WE RELY ON YOU!
The overwhelming majority of the support we receive comes from people just like you. In 2007/2008 fiscal year the income we received to operate the programs and services we provide broke down like this:
67% from Individual Donors
23% from our Thrift Stores
5 % from Corporations
4% from Government
1% from Foundations
It is due to the generous and caring gifts we receive from you that we can do what we do - change lives. And in these desperate economic times we rely on you more than ever.
Will you help us?

An Amazing Young Man

Most high school juniors look forward to summer vacation as a way to kick back and enjoy a summer free from school assignments and fun with friends. But Steven Vickery of Stone Mountain, Georgia found it to be a great opportunity to strengthen his fluency in Spanish, research hunger and the effectiveness of a new holistic approach to Food Pantry operation, and provide much needed volunteer assistance to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Steven worked 244 hours over the summer helping in every aspect with the operations of St. Vincent de Paul. When applauded for his dedication to service, a modest Steven responded with an apology for having not volunteered more hours due to an appendectomy, immediately when school let out.
Speaking about his service at the Society, Steven explains, “My Summer at the Family Support Center of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was invaluable as a learning experience and as a unique service opportunity to help those in need with the resources from the generous support of the community. I was able to get excellent experience in seeing the operations of the Society while serving at the same time. The staff of the Conference Support Center and the volunteers the Society relies upon are dedicated and devoted to serving. The people - clients, volunteers, and staff - made the experience truly great.”
The staff at St. Vincent de Paul recognizes how very fortunate they have been to have such a dedicated volunteer as Steven. Thank you for your devotion to service and all the hard work this summer Steven.

7-Year Old Conducts Food Drive
for SVdP Food Pantry
There was a wonderful “happening” at St. Anns in Marietta this past month. A little 7 year old, decided on her own to have a food drive in her neighborhood for the poor. She received nine bags of food for the food pantry plus donations totaling $250 for St. Vincent de Paul.
At the last Conference meeting, the conference members all signed a “thank you” card to young Caroline. The card also included a copy of the photo below of all her new friends. In the center of the photo is Mary Buttimer, after whom the St. Ann food pantry is named.

Did you know that you can donate your car or truck to St. Vincent de Paul and get a tax deduction?
Running or not, we can make good use of it. We will pick it up and handle all the paperwork.
