Changing Lives… Serving Communities, Since 1903

Uplift

Uplift is a Conference-sponsored program that supports a family or individual over a longer term in order to provide an opportunity for the completion of an academic degree or professional certification.   Uplift  is not an emergency assistance program.  Candidates for the program must live in the vicinity of a participating SVdP Conference.  In order to be accepted into the program, candidates must:

  • Complete a detailed application
  • Identify the desired outcome and outline process and goals
  • Participate in required interviews
  • Provide financial statements and other required documentation

Graduated MotherApproved candidates enter a formal agreement with the local Conference that details the requirements, support and financial assistance that will be provided. Selected candidates agree to have their financial records reviewed regularly, their progress monitored and their outcomes and goals reviewed regularly by the assigned mentor.

This program provides candidates with an extended opportunity to gain the tools, education, certification or degree that will allow them to:

  • Integrate and improve existing economic and educational support systems that promote long-term family self-sufficiency
  • Attain greater emotional and financial security
  • Achieve greater self respect and inner satisfaction
  • Increase earnings, build assets and move toward financial independence

The program length can vary from one to two years.
